This is my new doll,
“The Pigeon Princess of Amsterdam”
When I was a young child, my late grannie and I would cycle to the Dam square in Amsterdam. An old lady sold little bags of birdseed there, and my gran would buy us one. I will never forget the strange sensation of the pigeons flying up and off my head and shoulders, picking up the seeds I sprinkled over my hair and coat.
My new doll is inspired by this memory and made in honour of my dear gran.
She is made with cotton, crackled clay, mohair and antique lace.
The pigeons have pins and can be placed on the cloth parts of the doll.
The Dutch canal house hangs like a memory souvenir around the doll’s neck.
The Pigeon Princess has now been listed in my shop 💕
