“Into The Ivy” Behind the scenes

Pantovola exhibition

Dear reader,

This past May you may have seen or heard about my exhibition Into The Ivy which I held at the beautiful chapel now turned artspace Notre Dame des Arts in Ubbergen, NL
When I decided to take on this exhibiting adventure (my first solo show) I knew it was going to entail many facets with which I was unfamiliar.
Aside from creating artworks on a much bigger scale in my tiny studio space, there were all kinds of elements to navigate that were new for me and the one that caused me most of my anxiety was planning for my sculptures to be transported to the chapel.
It was on an evening with my family that we were discussing this and that I was considering asking friends with vans etc to help me move everything from my studio to the art space,
when suddenly my brother came with the news that he had just been discussing a new venture with his colleague and employer at the moving company Feitsma Verhuizingen that he works at;
to branch out into specialised art transport!
I literally fell of my chair because it felt like my prayers had been answered by the Gods after having had nightmarish visions of stressful improvised transportation disasters and damaged (or broken) artworks! Especially my swan sculpture, heavy and delicate at the wings and my altar piece which is literally made of candle wax concerned me most,
these pieces seemed really quite tricky to be transported…
So after we discussed this idea my brother brought the plan to his employer, who so kindly agreed to take on the job of professionally packing and transporting my artworks.
It truly was such a relief…
What could have been a nerve recking day became a really lovely experience thanks to Feitsma Verhuizingen my brother and his colleague and I made a little film of it from start to finish ;
from carefully packing paintings and delicate teapot ghosts to getting the massive Swan sculpture safely from A to B.
In the video you will see my brother (with the swallow tattoo) and his colleague wrapping, packing and moving the exhibition pieces and it turned out to be a really great day 🙂
