Hello Dearlings,

It has been a while and I hope you are all well,
changing into your autumnal dress if you are, like me, in the Northern Spheres,
and into your spring gear, if you are in the Southern Spheres.
I wanted to let you know about the upcoming Art Doll show at Cactus Gallery in LA, CA,
curated by Anima ex Manus Art Dolls (Ioanna Tsouka) and Sandra Mastroianni.
The theme for this group show is Folk Tales, and each dollmaker has taken it upon her to tell a tale of their choosing, through the art of the doll.
There will be many amazing exhibitors, such as some of my favorite doll artists the magical Karly Perez , The Ragged Caravan and Sam Crow.

So, for this show I chose one of my favorite folklore figures “La Loba”
a Wild Wolf Woman originating from the Mexican desert.
La Loba collects the bones of the animals, especially those of wolves,
and through song, dance and fire, she reunites them with their spirits, thus bringing them back to life.
I first came upon this fantastic tale through one of my most beloved books “Women Who Run With The Wolves” in which Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés revisits folk tales from across the globe,
retelling them through the lens of the Wild Woman Archetype.
Those of you who have been following my work for a while will undoubtedly have seen many Wolf Women depictions in both my doll work and paintings.
I have always had a very special relationship with the wolf, ranging from negative to very positive. In dreams they visit me most regularly, and I have even had a lucky encounter with a beautiful wild wolf in the woodlands of Southern Poland, when I was fourteen.
(Don’t ask what I was doing by myself in the enormous wild woods in Poland, at fourteen, I can assure you I have had my fair share of telling off for that some decades ago already haha)
Anyway, with the wolf always having been an important omen to me, I was particularly moved and inspired by the tale of La Loba, in which Life and Death meet in a most magical way.
So, with no further ado, this is my Wolf Woman that I made special for the upcoming Folk Tales doll show, which opens on the 19th of September.
The piece is made of textile, painted, and the bones she carries are of clay.
